If you are using a thermoswitch, you DO NOT want to have a manual override switch for any reason other than wank factor.

Can i ask WHY you want a manual switch?

The thermoswitch (automatically switches at a set temperature) is located in your thermostat hosuing on top of the gearbox in an AE82. All the stock wiring should be there and function perfectly without your interference. If the thermoswitch is buggerised, go down to pick n payless or your local self serve wreckers and pinch a couple from just about ANY FWD toyota and it will work just fiiiiiiiine.
You will need a 17mm spanner - that is all.
