Exactly what I was thinking.
Perhaps there was, at one stage, an aftermarket ecu which didn't make use of the ISCV and they just made the pin hole to make sure no pressure built up. I hope it works when I put it all back together tomorrow!
I'll post up the results, thanks for the confirmation
