It doesn't matter what the law says, and in my mind using 'the law' to justify anything is pointless since the law is always made for the lowest common denominator (ie fuckheads). Make sure to chip away all the loose welding dags etc, as they might come off and cause some damage. I've heard of people filling the centre with resin and other shit after welding to keep all the loose bits in place. (i think someone even filled their centre with concorete??
