A similar thing happened to me with my old motor. Worse still, it was by a regular of these forums. I wont name names, he knows who he is, and though i had a case with consumer affairs, i decided i would rather cut my losses. This first person even fucked off overseas and left his partner to deal with the issue.

As if it wasn't enough dropping $7k+ rectifying the initial matter, the finishing touch on the engine installation is being prolonged unreasonably. Does anyone else think it is unreasonable to take a month to put a fucking bulge and vent in a bonnet? When i called the guy last he was telling me how he just came back from Adelaide and casually that he wasn't working on it the next few days. For fucks sake! And this person is associated with another (reputable) member of these forums...

I got more dodgy stories about mechanics fucking my cars. After pulling apart the motor which was effectively written off by a member of these forums, it turns out the "engineer" i turned too to help rectify the issue (who also owns a four wheel dyno tuning shop in a middle eastern Melbourne suburb, and specialises in a certain Italian marque) compounded the problem. I've heard of using sandpaper to "machine" back shitty low tech heads, ie 120Ys, Ford OHVs, etc but a 16V twincam turbo motor? That shit should be milled to Nth degree...

With the exception of one operator i have (recently) come across, thus far it seems shonky scams are par for the course for auto mechanics and associated services. Take solace that you are not alone.
