OK.

Where (z) denotes total steering angle in degrees at the wheel, if a given (x) degrees steering wheel rotation results in a given (y)mm of tie rod movement (connected to steering rack of given gearing), all else equal a shorter steering arm will give more degrees steering angle (z) at the wheel than a longer arm. See the attached diagram.

the only thing that will give you 'quicker' steering is another steering rack.

So the above statement is incorrect, as where 'quickness' Rolling Eyes of steering is defined as increased lock for given steering input, the 'quickness' of the steering is in fact increasing with shorter arms.

But the seller also says:

if you want more lock, then these are what you're after.

Where the amount of max (y) in the above diagram is not changed (ie. steering rack gearing is not changed), then it is true that max (z) will also be higher on the shorter arms. Basically the rate of change in (z) (actual steering lock) resulting from change in (y) (steering rack deflection) is a higher ratio for shorter arms and vice versa. So the seller's second statement is correct.

As for those prepared to jump on and rubbish my offer, the seller has every right to accept or decline at his option. In the absence of a specified price guide for offers, I tossed out an offer which reflected the value of the item on sale to me. If it's worth more to you, that's fine, how about you offer more and you can buy it?
