$300 is reasonable for a reco'd head swap over.
Im actually in the progress of getting the cylinder head off my sister's laser. Since it overheated and had a blown head-gasket.
Im getting mine re-surfaced, cleaned up for ~$155 incl. GST. They pretty much clean it all. Valves and intake/exhaust ports. THey pressure test it too and check for cracks. I actually have to drop it to them at 8am in the morning.
(damn no sleep in).
I then need to buy some gaskets (just like Haggis mentioned)
oil filter, oil, etc etc.
The block seems ok, just need a bit of a clean with some very light sanding. To get the surface rust out of the piston bores.
I sorta wasted half a day today coz I went and bought a replacement cylinder head from a wrecker only to find when i got home that one of the valves were bent (not happy jan)
So therefore just goin to return this head and use the existing head off the car to be milled.

Oops just saw u said ure head is cracked.
Just get the another recoed cylinder head.
