I wouldn't say that Jorrs...

They aren't anymore expensive to run in parts than a ae82 twincam...

Insurance is a tiny bit more, but they have lots over ur average run around, like a more comfortable interior, more features (electric windows sunroof etc) and yeah overal just a great car, Wouldn't be discouraging him...

There is very little to go wrong with them if taken care of...
If there is a lack of oil in the engine you can spin Bearing 1 quite easily due to the pickup design, but apart from that there is nothing to say they will be expensive or lots to go wrong on them..
Its like any car if its been taken care of, things won't go wrong

Good luck with the car..
How many kms has the car done?
10w30 is pretty thin...
New spark plugs may fix the problem if the original are worn out,
Other things u may look at eventually are Fuel Filter, as in my case when i changed my fuel filter the car responded more lively!
