cracked head.. but you dont want that.. when my headgasket went on my supra it started out just like you said, eventually it got worse and worse.. A good way to check is take off your oil cap and clean it out, then take your car for a drive, not too hard but not like a granny, when you get back check the oil on the oil cap, if its milky then BHG.. if there is no oil on it and its dry then go again and drive it a bit harder.
Another good way to check is see if your radiator is sucking water out your overflow or if its just filling it and its overflowing.. If it still draws water from the overflow then your gasket is OK and its another problem. but if your overflow is overflowing after a bit of a drive then BHG.. good luck mate..
make sure you find the problem coz it can (and usually does) lead to worse shit
