You mean lapsed by a day or lapsed by 3 months and a day?
My other ute has 'custom' plates (just standard format, but my choice of letters/numbers) which would be subject to the annual fee if ordered today.
This year it was renewed 2 weeks late (but within the 3 months), and no extra fees applied.
There seems to be some inconsistency here - if the rego lapses, then you go onto the fee system, but if you cancel it (ie, put the plates into storage) then you stay on the old system?
It will be interesting to hear the official RTA line on this (assuming wagonist gets a reply )
Edit: Wagonist, you don't have to wait till the Subies rego is due to transfer the plates to it, just shift them across, hand the old ones in and fill out the form (and pay the one-off fee...)
