ae86 slide Occasional Poster Location: gold coast Registered: December 2004	Re: Painting with enamel..... or a bumper bar Thu, 18 August 2005 05:46 prep is important so sand the surface with 400 grit sand paper then spray on plastic prime (making sure surface is completly clean before spraying, sand again with 400 then 800, clean again. for finish coat i would recomend 2 pac, dries harder as previosly stated and i believe is actually stronger than acrylic, talk to paint store about mixing as it can vary with diferent products, 2 pac takes alittle longer to tack off which means its easier to keep a wet edge when spraying, prob only need two coats, possibly with a light 800 sand in between. being 2 pac no clear required, makes it a bit more easy.
