I have heard if it being done. The 18r uses a high pressure low volume pump where as the 18r-g uses a high volume low pressure pump from what little experience ive had the difference in the pumps is the rotor is longer and there is an expansion plate in between the housing and the pickup side of the pump on the 18r-g
