20mm overall track therefore 10mm per rim. Theoretically if you increase the rim width by 20mm but not changed off set your overall track has remained the same, but overall outer rim to rim distance has increased by 20mm. The key here is the legislative interpretation of "overall track", which is centre of rim to centre of rim. Theory behind not increasing offset by more than 10mm is to aviod uneaven torsional stresses on suspension components over the design. In this instance if the legislation is applied literally then provided the offset remains within 10mm( remeber- per rim) then rim width is free provided wheels/tyres do not foul any part of the car and remain within the guard lip. This way you can do that set up provided you have enough room inside the guards.
