(in theory) The bigger the filter area, the less restriction the air has getting through. This is why filter manufacturers try to increase the area by pleating the material. There are diminishing returns to this though, and a HUGE filter may not have much less of a pressure drop across it than one that is adequately sized.
Also, as Apollo mentioned, you don't need to get a Pod replacement, You can replace the standard paper filter with a panel replacement by K&N. The advantage would be also no need to keep ditching out clogged filters - just wash and re-oil.
