If its your valve stem seals you should blow a puff of smoke as soon as you start the car.
If its turbo seals it will most likely happen if you let your car idle for a long time and or under heavy boost.
Quite often you will not notice that it smokes under boost because hey, who is looking behind them when they are at full boost? Plus at speeds the smoke will not appear as thick as it does at idle.
