Personally I really don't think I'd bother... One thing I do think is absolutely woeful in a TA22 is the stocky steering wheel though! Ditch that straight away and you'll be amazed at the difference.
That said, because the TA22 uses recirculating turd steering, I'd imagine it wouldn't actually be all that hard to adapt a steering box from either an old cressida or a crown - whether there'd be ANY feel left in the steering afterwards, I can't say. It'd surely be easier to do than adapting a rack+peanut though. Also, why ASK if the steering is too heavy or not - why not judge for yourself
