Yes it will most likely be an ignitor, there's no reason you can't have one with points. The idea is to cut down the current running through the points and use a transistor instead, as well as allow the points to make a good spark even when they are in poor condition. Old school electronic ignition. Most likely fitted in places like Canada where things are a bit chilly and there'd be stuff all chance of getting anything with points to actually start in the morning.
