The problem is that you've been told it will also "reduce the limit" so to speak, or make the front tyres slide with the wide rear tyres when they wouldn't have with the old rears. There may be some slight reduction in the conditions when understeer is felt, this is due to there not being a point when you'd have all four tyres slipping so the feeling is that the front tyres lose traction earlier.
