Sat, 03 September 2005 08:54 Cops will often hassle whoever is around if they are bored though I would say that even cops would have caught onto the sprinter drift craze by now. I was once searched by a cop while walking home from work because I was standing shaking my head as I watched him do a u turn in the middle of red traffic lights with no indicators,(I was actually waiting for him to get out of the way so I could cross) he noticed me watching him and came and drove straight at me (onto the footpath) with his high beam on,trapping me between his car and a wall, if I hadn't moved to the side he'd have at least nudged me with his bullbar on his landcruiser. He then proceeded to accuse me of "loitering" and wearing "dark clothes to avoid being seen" (my work (coles at the time) uniform). He odered me to empty my bag and accused me of stealing a packet of jelly beans which he found that I'd been eating at work, after I showed him the reciept dated 3 hours earlier he gave up on that and searched my pockets, finding a carton cutter (which I had deliberately blunted as I only used it to cut through packing tape), he confisctated it and accused me of using it to do "malicious damage" after which he let me go saying I was lucky to be let off with a warning for carrying a "lethal weapon" in public. The next day he rang my boss at work and asked him if I really worked there and said they had confiscated a "knife" from me causing my boss to think I was in trouble with the law and carried knives. Luckily when I told the story to my boss he thought is was pretty funny but the moral is some cops will go to great lenghts to screw you over because they don't like the look of you.
