You can definitely 'RB your Z' on a Z31. As Mikey said before, they came out in Japan with the RB20. Use the crossmember out of that and put whatever RB motor you like in. You'd probably have to do a bit of grinding on the RB26 sump though. All Z Spares in Thornleigh had the complete front cut for one (RB20DET) a while ago. This is one option I may eventually look at. Zoom likes to bag the shit out of the VG30DETT, but if you treat them right and obey the service schedule, you generally won't have a problem with them.
On the topic of how fast a Z32 is, a guy at work has a TT with a twin 3" stainless exhaust and boost raised to 18psi. The thing absolutely hauls.
