Personally I think this is bull$hit... if the hail damage was so minor that you hadn't noticed it before then it probably wasn't problem enough to complain about and get fixed.
Tell that you are not claiming the hail damage, you are claiming the accident damage... the hail damage is none of their concern.
If they still won't play fair then take the car off them and take it down to one of those paintless dent removal places and get a quote for repair of the hail damage... if its as minor as you say they can probably fix it for a couple of hundred.
Note: My comments are based on the hail damage being so minor that it is not visible to the untrained eye.
