Some suggestions...
If you want to get a manual box put in, see if you can find someone on here in your area who's somewhat good with that kind of thing - paying a workshop to do that kind of thing SUCKS! Beer's so much cheaper 
With the auto, if it's stuffed, can you maybe find a good condition pre-loved box that someone doesn't want - they usually go pretty cheaply.
