People often get obsessed with RPM while cruising... You have to remember that different engines need different things. If you give a 4AG Falcon gearing, it won't get good economy! Try this another way; select 5th gear at 2000rpm (probably around 60km/h), and put your foot down - not very grunty, is it! I've got a 4AG with a T50, 195/50 15 tyres and 4.3 diff, and the gearing is a reasonable balance for driving around the streets, although the standard T50's gears aren't close enough together for driving harder.
