Some newer cars have a purple look from the hid's but I find it hard to beleive the car company put higher k globes and would sacrifice the comfort in driving just to add a cool look. So if I am right and the purple looking light is still 5800-6000k, how do they get that effect?

i'm saying that companies DEFINITELY choose the cool look over functionality. the perception is that the higher K globes are better, and so car companies cater to the wants of the market.
as for H4's, i was meaning that out of ALL the H4's available aftermarket here, there were only abotu 2 or 3 types i would consider buying.
the same goes for HID, aftermarket caters to the markets wants, not to what is actually useful.
if you are happy with yours then good.
your question was, how do the manufacturers gut the blue/purple at the same K? they don't, they sacrafice light quality for the look. that said, they are likely still better than the "normal" H4's..
