put linux on it and have different logins, put the stuff you dont want to share in your own user directory with rwx permissions for you (the owner) only. If you want office-type applications, install Open Office - is just like MsOffice but better.
Failing that, make sure the filesystem is NTFS and that you have have multiple logins - or at least one for you with a password and a guest one with no password (for the knobs who share the computer)
