BlueRocket Occasional Poster Location: Gippsland Victoria Registered: January 2003	Re: 18RC timing chain replacement Tue, 11 February 2003 14:59 i tried replacing the timing chain without removing the head. i could get it all off alright but found that i could not get the cover back on again as the new chain was in the way. as i could not be stuffed taking the head off i chopped a piece of the cover off and bolted it on seprately. not the best way but it worked temporarily. i have since blown that motor up and am getting another one. i suggest to just take the head off and do it propely in the first place. its a real prick of a process but it will save a lot of trouble later down the track, and change both chains as well as the chain guides otherwise it may give you further trouble.
