No do not remove the shaft , remove the V band on the exhaust side and the large circlip on the comp side , the comp cover should come off with a bit of a twist and tap , be careful not to bump the wheel you can then remove the little pin so the housing can be rotated , the exhaust housing usually seizes on fairly tight so you may have to soak a bit of penetrating oil into it overnight then try tapping it off , sometimes it takes quite a bit of tapping and soaking to get it free .
