lyal wrote on Thu, 29 September 2005 15:16 | Hi all. I have a 1999 coralla csi 1.6 5 speed MANUAL. I love my car and will never part with it. In an effort to be extra kind at 80000k I got the mechanic to change the transaxle ( gearbox) oil.HE USED DEXRON 111 AUTO TRANS OIL AND WHEN I QUIZZED HIM HE INSISTS THAT IT IS FINE AND WILL NOT LEAD TO PREMATURE FAILURE.
What are your thoughts.
Has he done a bad thing?
Many thanks,
Lyal.

check in your service book as to what the recommended fluid is.. or failign that, call toyota service department..
if it's not the right fluid, get the mechanic to swap it at his cost and say "it is not the recommended oil for my car"
