yes true, a richer fuel mixture when vented on gear change. which also can inturn over time can wash down the bores of oil premoteing premature ring wear.
i havnt had fouled plugs since 2002 when i first did my 4agte conversion, and there is no difference with my fuel economy over the factory 4agze set-up.
