Yes the TE72 is the same as the early (TA22) gearbox, same internals. Only the TE72 one has less vent holes in the bellhousing, uses a different clutch fork and slave cylinder, has the rearward shifter, and has 4th and 5th gear switches on the housing for emissions stuff.
