This is just a guess, but i think that you're free play is a slave cylinder leak, and you're slave leak is causing/has caused you're clutch to wear (& slip) because its not disengaging properly.
I think its always better to check all the hydraulics before anything else.
The pedal adjustment would be last on my list to play with coz you might make something worse by treating the symptom not the problem.

So if there were a leak i should notice a drop in the fluid level right? Cause it's still full.
