chee wrote on Sat, 08 October 2005 16:06 | After having my regulator die on me, and leaving me stranded on the side of the road. I had to replace it yesterday. Had it fixed no problems.
However now i am hearing constant noises coming from the alternator whilst idling. It sounds like its scratching or something. A friend said it was probably the bearings, so im looking for more ideas as what it could be.
If it was the bearings, will it cause me any troubles later on? Or can i just leave it (i want to get it repaired eventually.)How much would i be looking at to recondition the alternator, or get a recon job. And how hard is it to replace the alternator (looks like a fair effort due to lack of space etc.)
The car in question is an ae92 corolla cs (4afc.)
Thanks.
edit: i remember hearing noises during idling before the car died, but i cant remember if its the exact noise. It followed the same rythm.
