that driveshaft is form the fwd corolla or the likes ? i like the equal length shaft setup. that bearing between the innet CV and the gearbox slines mount onto the... engine ? or crossmember.. cent remmeber with and is helf in with a large circlip. are you actually musing that mount top use the equal length shafts ? iirc the sw20 does something like this too.
the shaft off the e51 i couldnt imsgaine would hold in too well ? jsut given the e51 uses the clips on the shaft where the e58 shafts will be held in with the large clip near the innet cv.
i would have suggested perhaps getting the inner splines trimmed back so they were that little bit shorter and fitted nicely. however im not sure if that would be suitable given you need 40mm shorter and also i would be worried about how well it would hold in place ?
i really dont like the idea of cut and shut on the shafts. just feels like asking for trouble. what about gettnig a custom shaft made for the section between the two CV's ?
the guys ive know that have had to get custom shafts done up have all looked at around the $1000 mark for both shafts so i couldnt imagine you wuold be up for too much for just that small section.
