many people have done this on toymods.
i went from an RA60 to MA61 (both manual)
draven went from an RA65 to MA61.
power wise- the 5me felt great after the 21R. 
however, it doesn't take long before you realise the 5M-E isn't a great powerhouse. okay for daily driving, but when you want to go hard...
then you get a 7mgte or better and you'll go 'holy poopies'
