I take it that it's a manual if you have a 5th gear... It would be virtually impossible for it to "slip" back to 4th. If it wasn't engaging into gear it would simply free rev and you'd know about it for sure.

Of course the revs are going to rise as you go quicker and quicker?
What am I missing? Did it used to rev lower?
