You are right Norbie,
I posted same topic up on my 4wd forum to confirm exactly
what other diffs are available as far as the off-road toyota gurus are concerned...
As said by Norbie,
the IFS front diff is the smaller f-series on all pre-96 models
running IFS suspension up front.
The solid axle 4wd's have 2 x G-series 8" centres in them.
The difference in size is apparently due to the Carrier Bearings...
4WDs with IFS = Front 7.5" (F-Series)
Rear 8" (50mm carrier bearing)
4WDS with solid axles = Front 8" (43mm carrier Bearing)
Rear 8" (50mm carrier Bearing)
4WDs after 2003 with IFS = Front only 8" (53mm carrier Bearing)
What I want to know is, what size carrier bearings are used
in the MX83 G-series 8" centres?
Cheers,
Bart
