you won't get a merc ride from a celica... it's not heavy enough.
do you want to drive fast around corners? if you are not looking to race it you will not need hard springs...
if you will not drive hard thru mountains, you don't even need medium springs..
a good place to start would be standard springs and then see if you want to go any harder.
for shocks, get something a little firmer than stock.. or adjustable ones that can be made as soft as stock...
it all depends on your budget..
you can look up about the different grades of TEIN, JIC etc shocks on the net, so.. google away
