what does SEVS stand for?
Specialistand Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme
a crown is hardly a special or specialist vehicle for the purpose of SEVS (although neither are all the american big name brand cas on there ), but remember that an application can also result in the car being BANNED from being imported.
check out table 1 at the end of this document
http://www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/Circular0-2-12.p df
it is worth a go, but why don't you do it
for example, this is why an ARISTO is on the banned list:
http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/SEVS/NOT_ELIG/NE24- 00.htm
Quote: | Regulation 24(4)(b)(ii)(A) and 24(4)(c)(ii). Model of vehicle has not been supplied in MA Category to the Australian market in Full Volume but does not meet 2 out of 4 criteria.
|
ie, the criteria set out in 4.1.2.2.4.2
difference in appearance
unusual construction (both compared to other models in that CLASS)
better performance
or "featured in specialist motoring magazines etc"
the thing is there must be SIGNIFICANT difference, and that is subjective.
good luck!! (don't get it on the banned list )
