to keep the surge tank full?? return line from rail goes to surge tank??
think about it for a bit.
to keep it full you need to replace what leaves the surge tank. how does the fuel leave?
by the injectors.
what rate does the fuel leave?
depends on what size injectors you have, but more importantly, how long you are at WOT.
the max fuel you will use is the max flow rate of your injectors, so maybe 1.2-1.5L/min. maybe have the pump flow maybe 10-20% more to keep enough fuel for the high pressure pump to kep pressure there.
the other thing is. if your lift pump does 1.5L a minute, and your surge tank is 1.5L in size, and your injectors are injecting at 1.5L/min at maximum rate, it will take you at least two minutes at MAXIMUM THROTTLE to empty the surge tank... so you have much more than the necesary fuel reserve...
heck, you could even run a 0.5L/min pump, and still have 1 min of full throttle!!! and enough time to fill the surge tank at the next couple of lights
