Im currently working on putting a 22RE in a mate's RA60. These motors are also a truck motor, but having the 2.4L capacity means even though they may not have more horsepower, they have a bucket more torque, which in turn creates damn good acceleration in standard form(dont bother revving past 4500)... from there, being an EFI motor, a turbo can be fitted without too much hassal, and will even further improve the torque output of these motors, to such a state where your T series diff will melt like butter in the oven. An F series diff will fix this problem. The 22RE can be sourced from a number of cars, the most popular seems to be the RT142 corona... as these usually havent been thrashed, and not too many ppl care if a corona becomes a cube. Engineering isnt much of a problem... look at the DBA website at the brake specs between the RT142 corona and RA60 celica... i know the RA60 has better front brakes, and should have identical rear brakes to a drum reared RT142. If you can get hold of a disc rear RT142 avante that doesnt have IRS, these rear brakes will fit on your standard diff, or an F series diff(talk to brett celicacoupe). Diff should pass, though once again, an F series can be made to fit without much problem(also see brett celicacoupe), and if you destroy that diff even with the turbo... you gotta stop putting sand in your diff.

hope this gives you another option.

Cheers, Owen
