Yep thats pretty much the case...
If you want to be 100% sure its gone just chuck in a fill worth of cheap multigrade oil and go for a lap around the block before adding your good oil.

When you're using the engine oil flush stuff just keep an eye on the oil pressure because if your engine / oil pump are getting on a bit your oil pressure could fall to a point that could damage the engine.
