Well, that was back then, and in a large and bloody war. The amount of time, money and massive loss of life to both the allies and the Japs would of been horrendous without using nukes.

Basically, it had to be done and it was. A lot of you would of done the same thing, given the same circumstances. You could either keep fighting, almost hand-to-hand across all of Japan - which would result in hundreds of thousands of your troops being killed (along with the policital and emotional backlash of your own population for such a loss of life), as well as more Jap troops and civilains being killed in this type of combat, plus it would of taken another year to end the war.

Simple choice really.... drop a nuke or two and hope they capitulate so we can end this bloodshed.

Besides, the most devastating loss of civilain life was from the incendiary bomb attacks, not nukes. B29s would fly in large formations over the Jap cities and drop thousands and thousands of small 5kg incendiary bombs. The Jap cities, being mostly build with wood and paper, went up in flames and devoured entire cities and populations. Similar to the incediary bombs dropped by the allies on Dresden and Hamburg in Germany during WW2 - they too were where the greatest loss of civilian life occurred.

Well its ironic that america uses 'that country has WMD' as a reason to invade when in history it is the only nation to have used WMD.

And I disagree river... For one reason. Where were these bombs dropped? key Military instalations? perhaps their main navy port? an airfield?. They dropped them dead centre on large civilian populations who had nothing to do with fighting.

And for that they should burn. Their goal was to kill as many innocent people as possible to stop Japan from fighting. So the Japs attacked Pearl harbour... basically a launching pad for Americas Navy to attack Japan. Oh hey they cant do that.... lets fucken kill them all..... =/

Yes I realise Japan was against us in the War. But I really think they did get played by the Germans in teaming up so to speak.

In conclusion we should cut military ties to America and focus on stronger ties with Japan.
Theyre a closer neighbour, make superior electronics and automotive products and their society is much better advanced.
