The throttle was actually moving when it revs but what is moving the throttle? is there a motor there possibly control the throttle automatically on carby engine? anyone got a vitara service manual by anychance?

that sounds weird...
but...
since it is your mates car, and i assume you are nearby.. you could open the bonnet and have a look yourself? faster and easier than asking toyota people about a vitara...
if there is no servo device to move the throttle, then what else could it be?
