I'm not sure but I'd guess that the AE80 is the earlier version of the AE82 - the way I think you can tell the difference is that the front corner parking lights aren't as long as the AE82 ones. (length being from front of car towards back of car )
nup the ae80 was sold at the same time as ae82, the parker light change came around 86(i think it is just a later model addition just like 1/4panel repeaters on ae92) the only real way to tell if it is an ae80 or ae82 is to open the bonnet and look at the compliance plate or motor, although the mtoor look similar.
