with the burners i have owned, 4x, 16, and now 48x, i have always burned at full speed with limited failure... the ones i have failed on have always failed at 1x, which could be something to do with protection, or a scratched up disk.
i used to use some cd prog that came bundled with the kodak burner years ago, but since then have used psx copier, clonecd, nero (my favourite), easy cd creator, and some random progs that were meant to be the shit, but turned out to be shit.
having said all that, i bought a box of 100 lazer disks back in the day, and got about 70% success rate at any speed, with burn, be it a copy or a compilation/backup i made.
so meh, i dunno... try and try again, see what happens.
