Ok, so cyl 1 is at TDC with both valves closed.
Dizzy rotor is pointing at the cyl 1 plug wire.
If thats correct, then your right, it should be running.
Next is to get a timing light, and while cranking, check your ign adv is correct.
Look down your carb, give the accel pedal a few squirts, you should see petrol being squirted in by the accel pump... if it is, then your carb should be ok.
