AE25,
All the T series engine use the same size Rods. They vary in strength but are all the same length (Exculding the 1400cc T engine) The 3TGTEU and 2T, 2TGEU etc also all use the same basic block design. there are some minor differences but the deck height is the same on all of the. It is the Pin height in the piston itself that counters the increased stroke of the 3T crank, Hence the need for 3T style pistons and the inability to use 2TGEU pistons with a 3T crank.
Yes flycutting a standard or cast piston does have limitations. You would be surprised however how far you can go. And yes flycutting is increasing the recease for your valves in the top of the piston.
Your cam specs will indeed dictate how big a flycut you will need. The thicker the base of the piston the deeper you can go at the expense of increased piston weight.
The first series 2TG (88220 Head) has smaller valves than its predessesors. The 88222 head thru to the 88262 head all have the same size valves which are the same size as the 3T-GTE valves.
Oh I also have a Ball Bearing R32 Series 2 Skyline Turbo for sale if your interested. Drop me an email if you are
