There's been a doco on channel 2 a couple of times about these types of guns, and their Australian inventor. Some old guy who didn't really want to push his new gun invention into test & production, but no one showed any interest at all in his other inventions, so it was pulled out as a last resort.
The invention he was pushing was running shoes that pump air in and out with each step, keeping your foot much cooler. No wonder he had to go with the gun......
