I eventually got round to plumbing my boost gauge in again today (seeing as the last place i put it wasnt safe enough to hold the pipe on, and resulted in me blowing off the hose to the MAP sensor at full boost.. not good).
Anyway, look at the pic below.. its my new piece i've used to plumg the gauge in,
by the way, it screws into the inlet manifold, you cant see from the pic, and feeds the pipe to the MAP sensor (the bit to the left), and now also my boost gauge line (thats the orangey bit with the pipe in it at the top).
Now, below is the old bit (pic below). But this is confusing me a bit..
The old bit (which just fed the pipe to the MAP sensor) is a funny shape, and it isnt a straight through hole from one side to the other.. it appears to follow a route inside the part, perhaps going through some filter or something to straighten/restrict the air flow...
now, my new bit obviously doesnt do this (air in - air out)and i'm wondering if it will cause any probs to the MAP sensor.
I cant fit the adapter *and* the original air bit on as there isnt enough room..
Anyone know if the stock piece is designed to tamper with the air flow in some way? Does anyone know what it does to the air flow?
Cheers
adi
