When it comes time to build the surge tank, please take a little longer to do it properly. The vast majority of the aftermarket ones I've seen are just rubbish. This is how to shape it properly -

#1 pipe is the low pressure feed into the swirl pot. #2 pipe is the feed to the high pressure pump to the fuel rail. #3 pipe is the return from the fuel rail. #4 pipe is the return to the fuel tank.
If you look at the path of the fuel, you can see that the hot & cold fuel will not be mixed up by turbulent flow, and that all the air in the pot will be removed, so there's almost zero chance of surge.
