gearbox issues

hi fellas, i'm having issues with my gearbox,
when i go to put it in second from first, its a little stiff, but it always slides in sweet from third, also when i put it in fifth it spits itself out under load or when i put the foot down and then get off the gas, i thought it might have just been fucked but its been like this for about a year now without getting worse, any ideas or advice would be great, also if anyone knows a good cheap mechanic in the north west of sydney with experience with 4age's i'd love his number, i'm sick of mechanics that know less than me, thanks guys
